It seems like every time I turn on the television there's something on about a boy wanting to be a girl or a woman wanting to be a man. It's all so confusing that it makes me want to delve into my cards- where men are men. It's time for another installment in our Countdown to 2016 Topps.
I wasn't a parent back in the 80s, but if I had been then I'm pretty sure I would have looked at some of the bands I listened to and thought, "What a bunch of freaks. They look like women." While we just called them metal back then, today many of those same bands are known as 'Hair Metal.' The term is used pejoratively, to say the least- insinuating that it was all style and no substance.
But look back at the early-to-mid '70's and you'll see artists such as *David Bowie, T-Rex, Sweet, Iggy Pop and other 'Glam Rock' bands or artists paving the way for metal artists and the new wave bands ('New Romantics') that dominated much of the airwaves during the 80's.
*In an interesting twist of fate, I've had this post in the queue for a week and then woke up this morning to the shocking news of the death of Bowie. RIP to a brilliant musician.
Of course none of this has anything to do with Brian Downing. But bro, what is up with the goldi locks look?
