Remember My Name: Tommy Le Stella
2011 Playoff Contenders Draft Ticket #DT42
October and November can often be quite depressing for the typical baseball fan. If your team doesn't make the post-season (or, if they don't make a deep run in the playoffs), then there's a lot of down time until the Winter Meetings. Fortunately, there's the Arizona Fall League (not to mention other winter leagues)- where we can see some of the top prospects in the game honing their skills.
The league also features less-heralded prospects, such as Atlanta's Tommy La Stella- the second-baseman who has suddenly drawn a lot of interest from scouts and fans alike. The eighth-round pick in the 2011 draft was just named to the Topps/Minor League Baseball Double-A All-Star team after his breakout year in Mississippi. In 81 games for the Braves AA team in Pearl, Tommy hit .343/.422/.473 while also putting together a 23-game hitting streak in the middle of the season. La Stella also hit .550/.690/.750 in seven games for High-A Lynchburg to begin the season. With only a couple of games left in the Arizona Fall League schedule, Tommy has continued to impress by hitting .290/.436/.468 with 16 BB and only 4 strikeouts against some of the top prospects in the minors.
