Swashbuckler Sunday: Carnell Williams 1000-Yard Club

N2006 Upper Deck 1000-Yard Club

How about that Auburn/Alabama game yesterday? I'm a fan of neither team, but I have to admit that I was pretty jacked to see the outcome of that one. My daughter had never seen me so excited about a football game, and thought something was wrong. Anyway...

Speaking of Auburn- former Tiger Cadillac Williams gave Buc fans plenty to be excited about during his 2005 rookie campaign. The number five overall pick in the '05 draft went on to rush for a then team-rookie record 1,178 yards, despite missing two games due to injury. Carnell finished his rookie season with 6 100-yard games (including becoming the first back to rush for over 100 yards in his first three professional games, totaling 434 yards), the three highest being for 148, 158, and 150 yards. It's hard to say just how many yards he might have gained had he not sustain an injury. Following those first three games, Cadillac's next four games saw his totals sink to: 11 carries for 13 yards, 13 carries for 20 yards, 11 carries for 29 yards, and 10 carries for 20 yards. For his efforts, Williams was voted NFL rookie of the week three times and the NFL Rookie of the Year.
